It’s Already May?

What is this craziness? It’s May! Wow, where does the time go? Since working on my novel in November, I have made abundant progress on writing. Both in the way of story drafts and connections with other writers. There is an amazing speculative fiction group for Christian authors called Realm Makers, I am thrilled to be a part of it! This group has helped spur on my imagination, and I even was a door to connect me with an editor.

I submitted the novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month- which is November) for professional editing this March. That was an exciting and terrifying process that will continue to take some time, but lets rewind a bit. In January-February, I wrote a fun little—well it’s not so little—piece, about a Princess. Fun topic and character. The entire story idea came about over a joke with a friend. What started out as a joke, and a comedic idea, turned into a fun story with a strong theme—if I do say so myself—but it needs work still. That project is on the back burner…

Currently, I’ve been diligently—okay, I was diligently working, now I’m a little stuck— working on two novels. One is a serious science fiction with strong humor. This story features an aquatic humanoid space faring race of aliens. This makes for a ripe environment—no pun intended—for a lot of fishy jokes. Following two characters who were BLEEP (no spoilers), and then BLEEP happens and they are BLEEP in space. So the BLEEP are not really sure what to do, and BLEEP is attacked by BLEEP! They eventually end up on BLEEP. More aliens BLEEP and the colony is in trouble, yadee-ya, explosions, aliens, spaceships, whats not to enjoy? Oh and humor, did I mention that? I… think I did.

The second novel is complicated and I really don’t want to give to much away about… yet. I will say, it’s set in a fantasy-like world and has a unique magic system, thrilling fight scenes, scared characters, snarky and witty banter, and many shadowy plots.

So, currently I am quite busy being stuck. Lots to do, just sorta taking a break. Also have about sixteen other ideas to work on once I get this ones written down. Those are just the newest or most pressing of course. There are always more. My epic fantasy is calling again, as is my first completed novel draft, Abandoned, with Tristan Oneel! He wants some attention for his sequel and editing, and, and, and…

Well, that’s it for this post, well almost. Obviously I need to finish this paragraph. I’ll just make something exciting up… No I shouldn’t say that. My sister finished her first draft of Stand in the Rain! So thrilled for her. Anyone who’s ever attempted to write a novel knows just how big of accomplishment that is. If your interested in alpha/beta reading any of the mentioned stories, or the Realm Makers group, leave a comment and I’ll get back with you! Till next time!
